West Palm Beach, FL - (by Sally Shorr, TBA) - Spring into summer like a young superhero at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches. On Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., enjoy a frolicking day of fun at Healthy Kids Day, the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and their families.
Nearly one in five children in Florida is obese, according to a recent study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Parents can help prevent childhood obesity by encouraging their youngsters to lace up, stay fit, and maintain a holistic lifestyle.
Healthy Kids Day is free and promotes family-friendly fun, including face painting, health and wellness discussions, American-Latin cuisine, and entertainment. Kid-approved activities will feature a 40-yard dash, a punt, pass, and kick competition, three-point basketball contest, Zumba, and an action-packed obstacle course for a chance to win great prizes.
