Lake Worth, FL - by Tabatha McDonald - Palm Beach State College is hosting a free seminar Saturday, April 22 for high school seniors who still need help getting on the path to college and juniors who want to get a head start on their higher education planning.
The College is Possible event will be held in the Duncan Theatre on the Lake Worth campus, 4200 Congress Ave. Check in and continental breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. The opening session will begin at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to students and their parents, but attendees must pre-register at www.palmbeachstate.edu/recruitment by Thursday, April 20, 2017.
During the event, students can walk through an interactive marketplace to receive information from PBSC staff on academic programs, admissions, financial aid, registration, clubs and organizations. In addition, there will be seminars on such topics as navigating from high school to postsecondary education. There also will drawings for scholarships and other giveaways.
Seniors who have submitted an online PBSC admissions application prior to attending “College is Possible” can participate in a special New Student Orientation and get registered for their first term classes. Assistance with completion of Palm Beach State’s admissions application also will be available. Staff will be available to schedule appointments on a future date in April and early May for any senior needing assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Students applying to PBSC must provide two Florida documents to establish residency for tuition purposes. For details on the acceptable documents, visit www.palmbeachstate.edu/admissions.
