This Joyce Theater Productions Associated Company presents original works by multiple composers and choreographers

West Palm Beach, FL - (by CRL Media) - One of the most sought-after Cuban dance companies with a growing international profile, Compañía de Danza Malpaso is a company associated with Joyce Theater Productions, bringing original commissioned works from multiple choreographers to the Kravis Center for two nights of electrifying performances: April 18 and 19.

By emphasizing a collaborative creative process, the Malpaso Dance Company is committed to working with the best international choreographers while fostering new voices in Cuban choreography. The company tours with 11 dancers and is led by its three original founders: Resident Choreographer and Artistic Director Osnel Delgado, Executive Director Fernando Sáez, and Associate Artistic Director Daileidys Carrazana. The original choreography is arranged by American notables such as Ronald K. Brown (Why You Follow), Trey McIntyre (Under Fire), Aszure Barton (Indomitable Waltz), Emmy Award winner Sonya Tayeh (Face the Torrent) and, more recently, Robin Mineko Williams, who, along with the members of the company, created Elemental. As part of his commitment to Cuban choreographers, Malpaso has also recently premiered works by company members Beatriz García (Ser (Ser)) and Abel Rojo (Carrying Floor), which went on to be nominated for the prestigious Benois de la Danse Award.

The Malpaso Dance Company program at the Kravis Center will include: Lullaby for Insomnia choreographed by Daile Carrazana; Woman With Water choreographed by Mats Ek; Elemental with choreography by Robyn Mineko Williams and Stillness in Bloom with choreography by Aszure Barton.

Beyond the stage: Join us for a post-show talk on April 18 where dancers and choreographers Melissa Verdecia and Lyvan Verdecia will interview Malpaso CEO Fernando Sáez and the company's dancers. Melissa and Lyvan are principal dancers with Miami's Dimensions Dance Theater as well as past members of Ballet Hispánico. Beyond The Stage is sponsored by Nancy and Jay Parker.

This production of the P.E.A.K series is made possible by a grant from the MLDauray Arts Initiative in honor of Leonard and Sophie Davis, with support from WLRN.

The Malpaso Dance Company hits the Rinker Playhouse stage on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at kravis.org/malpaso or by calling the box office at 561.832.7469.
